Outernet has partnered with Tetris Company to celebrate the game’s 40th anniversary with the largest interactive multiplayer version of the game ever. I had the chance to create their logo, UI design for the app and call to action screens.

logo design

logo design took inspiration from the iconic original Tetris logo and followed the brand guidelines closely while giving it a unique identity of its own. The World of Tetris logo incorporates the game's overall futuristic space theme and features 40th anniversary messaging that can be removed without compromising the design later.

fonts

I’ve selected two fonts to use across the property in game, in app and collateral assets. I used Audiowide font for all titles and within the World of Tetris logo. Outernet regular font is used for all body copy and call to action messaging for clear legibility.

app design & functionality

the team developed a mobile app for players to interact with the game. the public can participate by scanning a QR code, which links their mobile device to the game, transforming it into a controller. 7 players can join the game session simultaneously. each player is assigned a unique tetrimino colour. if more users join the game session, they’re placed into a queue.

call to action & scoreboard system

a call to action screen appears on the main wall and disappears when the first player joins. after the game ends, a scoreboard is displayed, showing blocks that indicate scoring and the total number of games played. the scores represent the points accumulated for all players of the same colour during a single session. additionally, links and QR codes are provided to encourage guests to download Tetris.
